News Credibility Auditor
A tool that analyzes the credibility of a news article: a FastAPI backend with Gemini.
What was needed was a way to quickly scan one article for logical fallacies, bias, and sensationalism. The auditor page on the previous version of 7xz.dev held this feature; while rebuilding the site it was pulled out and cleaned up as a separate tool.
How it works
The backend is FastAPI. You paste text or scrape a URL, and Gemini 2.5 Flash analyzes it for logical fallacies, bias, and sensationalism. There is an IP-based credit limit (10 per day by default), a shareable result link encoded in URL parameters, and local history. The front end is React and Vite, with KO/EN i18n, dark/light, a ⌘K command palette, and Framer Motion page transitions. There is also an admin dashboard with statistics, per-user charts, and credit granting and blocking.
Where it stands
It was shut down while cleaning up the previous version of 7xz.dev. Actual usage was close to zero and there was little reason to keep it running. What it leaves is the experience of taking one LLM and building a tool around it: scraping, a credit limit, share links, an admin dashboard. The backend had been deployed on Render’s free plan (15-minute sleep, roughly 30 seconds to warm up on the first request).
